Germany Funds Announce Quarterly Reports Now Available

New York , November 29, 2005– The European Equity Fund, Inc. (NYSE: EEA) and New Germany Fund, Inc. (NYSE: GF) each announced that their September 30, 2005, quarterly reports are now available online at www.germanyfund.com.

The European Equity Fund, Inc. (formerly The Germany Fund, Inc.) seeks long-term capital appreciation through investment primarily (normally at least 80% of its assets) in equity and equity-linked securities of companies domiciled in European countries that utilize the Euro currency. Effective October 31, 2005, its shares trade on the NYSE under ticker symbol “EEA”.

The New Germany Fund, Inc. is a non-diversified, closed-end investment company seeking capital appreciation primarily through equity investments in middle market German corporations. The Fund may also invest up to 20% of its assets in equity securities of other Western European companies. Itsshares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “GF”.

The Fund is not diversified and may focus its investments in certain geographic regions, thereby increasing its vulnerability to developments in that region. Investing in foreign securities presents certain unique risks not associated with domestic investments, such as currency fluctuation, political and economic change, and market risks. This may result in greater share price volatility.
