Using Advanced Search to Find Discounted Funds

Advanced Search is a powerful tool that allows you to search for funds by many variables. One of the most common searches is for funds trading at a discount. Here's how to find them using the Advanced Search feature.

Example: Search for all Fixed Income - Taxable funds, sorted by discount, from largest discount to lowest.

1. Click on Advanced Search from the top banner of any page on the website.

2. Select Discount in the Premium/Discount filter box in the Performance Criteria section.

By selecting Discount, Advanced Search will return only those funds trading at a discount.

Select either Market Return or NAV Return along with the Time Period and Minimum Value buttons if you want to refine your search. These top row buttons control whether Market Return or NAV Return is displayed in the results. They do not filter any funds.

Make further selections in Leveraged Assets and Expense Ratios boxes if interested.

3. Click on the Fixed Income - Taxable category in the Classifications box. Or you can also select multiple classes by holding down the CTRL button while clicking multiple selections.

Click on Search.

4.
To sort the results by discount, select Premium/Discount in the Sort By box at the top of the Search results (see below). The graphic shows the search results. There are 177 records in the Fixed Income - Taxable classes. Since you filtered by Discount in Step 2, the sorting will be done only on the 177 discounted funds. Ascending will automatically give you the largest discount first. Change the order to Descending if you want to reverse the results.
